Stoppage of a day’s supply could jeopardize many lives

Bhopal : The country is yet to come to terms with the tragic death of children in Gorakhpur’s BRD Hospital. However, precarious condition of oxygen supply in Hamidia Hospital has already come to the fore. Here also the supply of oxygen is being made by Inox and the company’s four months’ payment is already due. The Hamidia Hospital consumes 60,000 liter of oxygen every month.

The management is assured that oxygen supply is continuing but if it is stopped for even a single day more than 100 people could die. A 5000 liter capacity tank has been made at Hamisia. The company fills it regularly but the consumption is so much that it gets emptied on every alternate day. Shortage of oxygen on even one day could lead to a Gorakhpur like incident at Hamidia.

Sources revealed the management pays Rs 4-5 lakh to the company every month but the payment to the suppliers has been withheld since April. The company’s distributor has written several letters for payment but there has been no response. The distributor has said the oxygen supply could be stopped in case of non-payment and for this hospital management will be responsible.
