The special task force (STF) has busted a gunrunning racket in Indore. Four persons have been arrested and 16 pistols were recovered from their possession.
On Tuesday, sources confirmed that, STF received information about five men attempting to sell country-made pistols to their clients near Pipliahana Square. So, they raided the spot on Monday.STF found five men lurking on the service road on Indore Ring Road. As they saw STF team coming towards one of the accused fled, while four others were caught.
In the interrogation, STF found that the man who escaped, Raju Sikligar, resident of Dewas was a major supplier of weapons.
STF recovered one muzzle-loader rifle, three 12-bore country-made pistols, five 32-bore pistols, five 32-bore Glock pistols, two 32-bore revolvers and six live cartridges from their possession.
All the accused were residents of Dewas district and were identified as Poonamdas Bairagi, 27, Arjun Mahedia, 24, Alkesh Vishnoi, 28, and Suraj Singh, 32. The quality of weapons surprised the investigators. The accused were members of an organized gun-running racket, as claimed by STF.
Currently, STF is interrogating them and is trying to get details of their clients and other members of their gang. STF is also attempting to trace Raju Sikligar.
