Teachers Day celebration in city

Governor Shri Ram Naresh Yadav has said that only teachers can give a new direction to the country. Shri Yadav said that the education, which cannot build students’ character, is meaningless. The Governor said that the foremost objective of education is character building of youths.
He said that besides teaching, it is also responsibility of teachers to imbue human values, honesty, dutifulness, patriotism, morality, character and virtues in students. For Mahatma Gandhi, teachers were ‘agents of social change’. The seven moral sins he had mentioned in his article published in “Young India” include is ‘knowledge without character”. It is responsibility of teachers to build a responsible generation in society in this respect also. He said that teachers dedicated and committed to country and society can change the course of history by imparting correct education.

Referring to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Shri Yadav said that he was firm believer in democracy. Dr. Radhakrishnan firmly believed that even most serious problems can be redressed through democratic method of mutual dialogue. Dr. Radhakrishnan propagated Indian philosophy in the world. He believed that a teacher should not remain satisfied only with teaching. They should earn students’ respect and love through their ability, expertise and conduct.
At the function, Governor Shri Ram Naresh Yadav felicitated six teachers of the state with state-level awards. Shri Yadav also felicitated 13 teachers who won President’s Awards for the year 2011. He felicitated Shri Pawan Guru with Rs. one lakh award with citation, shawl and coconut for outstanding contribution to education. The award has been instituted this year. Besides, he also gave away awards worth Rs. five thousand each to Shri Shankar Dayal Dixit of Satna and Smt. Madhubala Saxena of Guna, who have been selected among two teachers each from every district under National Teaching Symposium. Teachers having won President’s Medal for 2011

School Education Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis said that quality education is solution to all problems. Smt. Chitnis said that teachers should teach students in such a way that Indian culture and values become part of their personality and conduct. Remembering Dr. Radhakrishnan, the School Education Minister said that it is due to his firm resolve that Indian philosophy is being respected in the world now.
Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah said that teachers set precedents for others by contributing to teaching process. It is matter of pride to felicitate teachers who give right direction of life to children in their formative years. Kunwar Shah said that only those who have strong desire and willpower can reach their destinations.
Earlier, Governor Shri Yadav inaugurated the function by garlanding portraits of Maa Saraswati and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Girl students of Kamla Nehru Girls Higher Secondary School recited Saraswati Vandana, Guru Vandana, Vande Matram and Madhya Pradesh Gaan. Guests were felicitated by presenting medicinal plants to them. ‘Abhinandan’ folder was also released at the function. Principal Secretary School Education Shri Sanjay Singh delivered welcome address and report. Commissioner School Education Shri Arun Kochar presented books as mementos to the guests.
Director School Education Shri Avadh Narayan Mishra proposed a vote of thanks.
