The Madhya Pradesh Secretariat staff deferred their strike on the assurance by the Chief Minister Mr.Shivraj Singh Chouhan to settle it within 15 days. On the third day of their strike the Chief Minister summoned them when the work in the Secretariat suffered in its impact. Some employees were in hunger strike.
Their demands include raising the retirement age from 60 to 62 years, promotions, revision of allowances, changing the nomenclature of peons and jamadar and removing the disparity in the salaries. The two and half lakh Government employees also lent their support to the Secretariat staff.
The Election year is generally always is a year of agitation and demands and the ruling party Government is also liberal these days to prove and enhance its bonafide as welfare Government.
About one lakh 62 thousand women employees of the 81 thousand Aaganwadis also submitted a memorandum to the Government demanding remuneration as fixed by the Labour Commissioner. They are also demanding absorption in the Government services.
