Sir Chhotu Ram fought for farmers, labour class: Acharya Dev Vrat

Himachal Governor Acharya Dev Vrat has said that Sir Chhotu Ram, a massiah of farmers and labour class, fought strongly to get the farmers debt free and worked for the welfare of these sections of society.

The great visionary could not tolerate the exploitation of farmers at the hands of money lenders and vowed to get them free from this old age practices and struggled hard to get his dream come true and succeeded in bringing historic relief to the farmers. His noble act will be remembered in times to come Acharya Dev Vrat said.

We should also follow footprints of great visionary and work for welfare of poor he added. Governor was speaking as chief guest at a function organized in Jat Educational institutions in connection with 137th anniversary of Sir Chhotu Ram here today.

He said that he was giving slogan of “cost free farming” under which farmers can adopt natural farming and say good bye to poisonous food grains and produce healthy food grains for which there was no need to purchase any inputs from the market.

He gave tips to the audience majority of them connected with agriculture to use urine and cow dung of indigeneous cows for growing healthy and cost free crops and said that the one cow is sufficient to provide inputs for growing crop on 30 acre land.

He also asked people to beware of divisive elements who sow seeds of hatred in society and advised that all should work unitedly and set up a new social order where all sections of society live in harmony, have a feeling of mutual brotherhood where society as a whole flourishes.

He also gave a call to those present to work for spread of education and help in building educational institutions and honored some donors who provided funds for the construction of college building. He also announced to provide funds for construction of two rooms in the institution.

Former CPS Ram Pal Majra, Darshna Devi, ADC to Governor Major Rohan Munshi and Press secretary Jayant Sharma, Ranbir Fauji, president, Jat Institutions, Balwan Kotra, Dharam Pal Chhot were among those present on this occasion. Later Governor also participated in a function held in BPR senior secondary School in Padla village and spoke during Seminar on Zero budget natural farming.
