Indore, MP, Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya today denied that BJP President Amit Shah met his Shiv Sena counterpart Uddhav Thackeray in an attempt to save the alliance.
Mr Vijayvargiya was here to meet Padma Shri TGK Menon as a part of Mr Shah’s ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ initiative prior to 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
“No political discussion took place between the leader duo. The meeting was part of special public relation exercise being carried out by the BJP. The Shive Sena is free to contest alone if it wished to in the next general elections,” he told media here.
Speaking about former president Pranab Mukherjee who is scheduled to attend a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh programme, Mr Vijayvargiya said that no one is untouchable for the RSS.
“The party has ideological differences with him but he is a respectable person. Mr Mukherjee can express his opinion about the RSS from the stage,” he said.
Taking a quip at Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Mr Vijayvargiya said that the former president is a skillful orator and he does not need to read out something written but simply place his views.
On Mr Mukherjee’s daughter and Kathak danseuse Sharmishtha Mukherjee’s prospects on contesting on a BJP ticket from Kolkata, he said that the party has not contacted her and nor she has got in touch with the party in this regard.
