SC refuses to pass order in connection with PIL of BJP leader

The Supreme Court today refused to entertain and pass any order in connection with the PIL filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Ashwini Upadhyay, seeking implementation of the 1999 Justice Verma Committee recommendations in connection with effectuation of fundamental duties.

The Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice of India (CJI) JS Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud refused to pass or diret the Centre in the case.

“You are the spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party and you should not be doing this,” Chief Justice of India (CJI) Jagdish Singh Khehar said while refusing to pass any order in this connection.

The petitioner had told the apex court that the present Government had not implemented the 1999 Justice Verma Committee recommendations yet.
