Agencies, Hyderabad A good doubles combination is one where the two partners are more than professionally close on the court. A special vibe will help the two to excel in competitions. That is the ideal of tennis star Bethanie Mattek-Sands, known locally as the doubles partner of Sania Mirza.
The two began the year on a solid footing when they clinched the Brisbane International women’s doubles title just ahead of the Australian Open. In city at the instance of Sania, the American seems to be relishing every bit of her stay along with her hubby. Stating that she enjoyed excellent friendship with the Hyderabadi, Mattek-Sands opined that they were all geared up for the season ahead, despite, ‘the challenges, which is part of any sport. It would have been more significant by now, had my partner not been sidelined because of injury,’ she said. She said they were now poised to give a serious shot at winning a Grand Slam title this season.
‘I am sure that with our individual experiences on the circuit and the inner urge to go all the way will come in handy. Being right at the top, Sania knows everything about what is required to sustain at that level. The fact that we have won over almost all potentially dangerous duos will also boost out morale’, she said. To commemorate the visit, Mattek-Sands visited Sania’s swanky coffee shop that is all set to open in Hyderabad in the next ten days.
