Rahul slams BJP for its politics on FDI issue

Chandigarh, Oct 11
AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today criticised the BJP for its obstructive politics on the issue of FDI in multi-brand retail and said the party had changed its stand just because the UPA had taken the initiative in this regard.

He stated this while addressing a rally organised by the National Students Union of India (NSUI) at the Panjab University campus here.
Obeserving that the opening up of the retail sector in FDI would benefit the farmers, Mr Gandhi said the BJP was not against the FDI when they were in power.

“Now when we have taken an initiative in this regard, they want to obstruct us. But the oppostion should know that when the Congress takes up some developmental work, it could not be stopped,” he added.
Mr Gandhi, who earlier concluded two-day deliberations with the Punjab Congress leaders and cadres, said he would like to see a woman chief minister in Punjab after ten to 15 years.

He called upon the youth to join politics and endeavour to take the country on the path of development and make efforts to root out corruption.
