PM winds up Nepal tour injecting fresh vigour in ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called on  President of Nepal Dr Ram Baran Yadav and discussed bilateral  issues of mutual interest before winding up his two-day visit to  this Himalayan nation.

According to official sources, the Nepal President lauded the Prime Minister for having ‘won the hearts of the people of Nepal’ during his two-day visit.

Mr Yadav congratulated Mr Modi on his recent election victory, saying there was now new hope, among India’s neighbours .

He said there was an expectation that the pace of development would increase not just in India, but in all countries of the SAARC region.  He also complimented Mr Modi for his address to the Constituent Assembly, as well as the speech during the banquet hosted by the Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.

He felt both speeches were extraordinary, and signify a new era of friendship between India and Nepal.

Mr Modi’s address in the Assembly was hailed as historic and members had kept on cheering him during the speech which had  electrified the atmosphere.

On one occasion, Mr Modi while highlighting significance of Tourism commented the Tourism Trade help ‘chaiwalas’.

The Assembly could not hold emotions and burst into cheers as
Mr Modi was himself a ‘chaiwala’ during childhood .

On the second occasion, the Nepal President said, Mr Modi had won the hearts of the people of Nepal.  With this visit, there is new hope of progress in Nepal, Mr Yadav added.
