Players of Hockey Academy bring laurel to the state

Sub Junior (under 17) players of Hockey Academy being run in Madhya Pradesh have brought laurel to the state once again. The sub junior players of Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy have bagged the first place in two different competitions.

Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia met the winner players at T. T. Nagar Stadium today. She was informed that the Madhya Pradesh trounced Delhi in the final match by 4-1 goals in the under-16 SNVP All India Hockey Competition held at Pune (Maharashtra) from October 1 to 7.

About 17 teams took part in the competition. Moreover, the team of Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy won the 35th Sub-Junior Nehru Hockey Championship held at New Delhi from October 9 to 22 defeating the team of Guru Govind Hostel –Lucknow by 5-1. Total 12 teams took part in the Nehru Cup.

The team has registered win under the leadership of the coach Dr. Habib Hasan. Smt. Scindia expressing happiness over the team’s performance in both the tournament said that we feel pride that not only senior players of the Hockey Academy of the state are performing their best in the international arena but the sub-junior team is stepping forward to display its skills at the international level.
