Play highlights dilemma faced by women in male-dominated society

Staff Reporter, Bhopal

Artists of Ekjut Natya Sanstha presented a play ‘Trikon ka Chautha Kon’ at MP Tribal Museum on Friday under the museum’s weekly series ‘Abhinayan’. The play was written by Sanjeev Nigam and directed by Khushbu Chaubitkar.

This is the story of an independent and self-respecting girl Divya. One day she meets a youth Kishore at the house of her friend Hema. She is impressed by his views and falls in love with him. She views him as his life partner.

However, Kishore doesn’t tell Divya that his marriage is fixed with someone else. Meanwhile there is a new twist in the story. Divya learns that her friend Hema’s husband used to physically abuse her and she lost her life on this account.

Divya’s life changes and she decides to fight against atrocities on women. The play depicts the pitiable condition of women in the male-dominated society and all the talks about their equality are limited to books and speeches or discussions behind closed doors.

In real life things have not changed much. The artists who beautifully presented the play included Preeti Shrivastava, Sandip Patil, Sanchita Shrivastava, Mukesh Pachode, Vineet Sagar and Swarnima Singh.
