Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, A play named Beton Wali Vidhwa is to be staged on Thursday, the first day of the six-day Vibha Mishra Smriti Natya Samaroh. The story of the play is written by Munshi Premchand and directed by Siddharth Dabhade.
The play revolves around a mother and her four sons who become ruthless and selfish, and neglect their mother after the demise of their father.The realisation of the immense love their mother gave them, hits them only after her sudden death which leaves the four in guilt.
The play was enacted by 20 artistes of Trikarshi Natya Sanstha on Thursday at Shaheed Bhavan on the opening day of the six-day Vibha Mishra Smriti Natya Samaroh organised by Trikarshi group.
The play is directed by Siddharth Dabhade.The play revolves around the negligent attitude of four sons towards their mother, who they abandon in several ways after the demise of their father. The play begins with a scene 13 days after of the man of the house passes away, leaving behind a wife and four sons. Before the death of her husband, his wife and mother of four sons lived a life of contentment.
On the 13th day after the death of her husband, the devastated lady gets more upset when she sees the groceries her sons have bought to make food for the brahmins.
However, as she begins to feed the brahmins, they refuse to eat as they assume the brinjal stems to be rat tails.
Gradually, the mother is shown to suffer as her sons take command of their father’s property. Then, after the mother dies, the four realise their mistake which leaves them guilty and devastated.
The story is about Phoolmati, a woman who has just lost her husband, Pandit Ayodhyanath and traces deterioration of her relationship with her four sons Kamtanath, Umanath, Dayanath and Sitanath.
After their father’s death all four sons started to show their real colours. They changed even faster than the chameleon.
