Urban Administration & Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur has said that urban bodies should chalk out their schemes and plans as per their respective budgets. He also laid stress on proper utilisation of allotted budget.
Shri Gaur was addressing a workshop focusing on decentralisation and proper use of budgets allocated to urban bodies, here today. The workshop was organised by voluntary organisation “Debate”. Former Chief Secretary Shri Sharad Chandra Baihar was also present on the occasion.
Shri Gaur said that urban bodies started more development and construction works than their capacity and then these works remain pending for years. This neither benefits people nor government funds are utilised properly. Shri Gaur laid stress on carrying out maximum works in urban bodies through private-public partnership.
Urban Administration Minister Shri Gaur said that stress of population will increase on cities in future. With this, responsibilities of urban bodies will become more significant.
Under such circumstances, it has become very necessary to promote budget decentralisation and increase income of urban bodies. Shri Gaur also directed to pay special attention to schemes regarding basic amenities like education, health etc.
Former Chief Secretary Sharad Chandra Baihar said that power of urban bodies have been decentralised at a rapid pace in recent years. Role of representatives of local bodies becomes even more significant under these circumstances.
Director of “Debate” Shri Amit Kumar Singh informed that public representatives, officers and employees of the Planning Department and representatives of voluntary organisations are participating in this two-day workshop.
