Summary revision 2013 of photo electoral rolls is underway in Madhya Pradesh these days. A meeting chaired by Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind was held here today to discuss preparations for Voters’ Day on January 25. Commissioner Public Relations Shri Rajesh Shrivastava, Additional Secretary Public Relations and Bhopal Collector Shri Nikunj Shrivastava were also present on the occasion.
It was informed at the meeting that as per directives of the Election Commission of India, electoral rolls have been published at all the 53 thousand 194 polling booths in the state. Names of eligible voters are being included in electoral rolls by concerning Booth Level Officer (BLO). The Chief Electoral Officer informed that copies of Form-6 have been received for including 11 lakh names in voters’ list as per estimated population of the year 2013. Still, names of 9 lakh voters are to be included. The Election Commission has fixed December 10 as the last date for this. At the meeting, gender ratio issue was also discussed. It was informed at the meeting that gender ratio is 930 per population figure whereas ratio of women is 891 in electoral rolls. There is also need to make special efforts to bridge this gap. At the meeting, a decision was taken to hold special discussion on electoral rolls at Gram Sabhas.
Review of preparations for Voters’ Day
At the meeting, preparations for Voters Day to be held on January 25 were also reviewed.
On the Voters’ Day, the main function in the state will be held at Government Excellency School, Shivaji Nagar. A tableau will also be organised at Lal Parade Ground to create awareness among voters. At the meeting, organisation of essay and debate competitions in schools and colleges was also discussed. It was decided that “Jago Matdata” film will be widely screened in the state.
