Patel, Indira gave new direction to nation: Cong

A meeting was organized at the State Congress office on the 33rd martyrdom day of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and birth anniversary of Iron Man Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

Congress functionaries and workers garlanded the portraits of both leaders and paid them their glowing tributes and remembered their contribution in the development of the country. Earlier flowers were showered on the statue of Mrs. Gandhi outside the party office.

Senior journalist Vijaydutt Shridhar and party functionaries recalled the sacrifice of both leaders. They said Indira Gandhi devoted her entire life for the progress of the nation and the countrymen.

State Congress organization secretary Chandrika Prasad Dwivedi sais Patel was the sculptor of modern India and first home minister of independent India but today attempts are being made to vitiate the country’s atmosphere. Patel played a leading role in country’s freedom struggle and integrating hundreds of princely riyasats, Dwivedi said.

The Congress leaders who paid tributes to Mrs. Gandhi and Patel included Mahila Congress president Mandvi Chauhan, Sajid Ali, Kailash Mishra, PC Sharma, Veersingh Yadav, Ashok Jain Bhabha, Ravi Saxena, Trilok Deepani, Lokman Kushwaha, Jitendra Baghel, Durgesh Sharma, Sangeeta Sharma, Abha Singh, Munawwar Kausar, Gita Mishra, Avnish Bhargava, Kailash Baigwani, Moinuddin Siddiqui, Gannu Tiwari, Guddu Chauhan, Shahwar Alam, Anand Taran, Rashida Mustafa, Hiralal Gurjar, Ravi Pandey and large number of other party leaders and workers.

A blood donation camp was also organized by the party to mark the anniversaries of Indira Gandhi and Sardar Patel.
