Pakistan sees ‘metallic’ object in shoes of Jadhav’s wife, sends for forensic test

Islamabad,

Pakistan has said it retained the shoes of Indian prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav’s wife after finding some “‘metallic” substance and sent those for forensic examination to establish the nature of the suspected object.

Pakistani media reports quoted Foreign Office Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal as saying that the authorities were ascertaining whether the “metallic” object in the shoes was “a camera or a recording chip.”

India has charged that Jadhav’s wife’s shoes were removed during the security check and never returned and warned against “any mischievous intent in this regard”.The Pakistan foreign office also in a statement rejected the India’s charges as “baseless and twists”.

“We do not wish to indulge in a meaningless battle of words. Our openness and transparency belies these allegations.

If Indian concerns were serious, the guests or the Indian DHC (Deputy High Commissioner) should have raised them during the visit, with the media, which was readily available, but at a safe distance, as requested by India,” the statement said.

The statement said that Jadhav’s mother “publicly thanked Pakistan for the humanitarian gesture” in front of the media, adding: “Nothing more needs to be said”.The foreign office and the Army have also denied that Indian soldiers had crossed the Line of Control on Monday and raided its outpost.

“The false claims by India about the alleged cross LoC adventures are a figment of their imagination and counter-productive for peace and tranquility on the LoC,” the foreign office said on Tuesday.

The Army’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations also said the reports of LoC crossing were a “continuation of the self-defeating projections to satisfy domestic audience”.
