Over one crore students of schools and colleges in the state participated in mass Surya Namaskar programme on the occasion of Youth Day held to mark Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed Surya Namaskar at Ratlam. Urban Administration & Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur participated in the programme at Bhopal. A large number of students from nearby areas also participated in the programme held at Boys Higher Secondary School, Bairagarh.
The programme got underway with garlanding of pictures of Swami Vivekananda and Goddess Saraswati followed by lighting of a lamp.
During state-wide broadcast from Akashwani, information regarding the programmes’ details were aired first of all. During broadcast of Vande Matram from Akashwani, people, students and guests present at programmes stood at their places singing the National Song. Following it, Dr. Priyanath Agrawal informed through Akashwani about importance of Surya Namaskar and Pranayam for concentration and physical fitness. Later, Swami Vivekananda’s Washington speech and its Hindi translation were broadcast.
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed students through Akashwani. In his pre-recorded message, the Chief Minister exhorted students to become good, true and responsible citizens and take a pledge to brighten name of the country.
When announcement was broadcast from Akashwani regarding start of Surya Namaskar, over one crore hands were raised simultaneously in entire state. After three rounds of Surya Namaskar, announcement was made regarding conclusion of broadcast following which students started discussions on yoga activities with their teachers.
At Bhopal, minister Shri Babulal Gaur congratulated students for completing yoga exercises with utmost discipline and concentration and lauded officers for success of the programme.
MLA Shri Jitendra Daga, officers, volunteers, students etc. were present at the programme.
