Claiming that Armed forces, particularly Indian Navy was a fast growing organisation, Defence Minister A K Antony today said over 48 nations were ready to cooperate with the Indian Armed Forces.
Addressing media here, the Defence Minister said the Indian Military was one of the best in the world and many developing countries wanted to cooperate with Indian Armed forces more.
Forty-eight countries are already having military cooperation with India. The countries are from Middle East, Afria, European Countries, Russia and other parts of the world,” he said.
Stating that Indian Coastal area was one of the safest seat route for merchant ships in the world, he said all nations were diverting their sailing through Indian coast.
After security was strengthened and coastal patrolling was taken up by the Indian Navy and the Coastal Guard, there were no Somalian pirate attacks against merchant ships were reported in the recent years, he added.
