Veteran leader puts pressure for Lok Sabha ticket
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Former CM Babulal Gaur who is always in headlines for his controversial statements has said that he may consider contesting from Bhopal parliamentary seat. The veteran leader has started putting pressure on the high command for giving him ticket.
Last month former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and BJP leader Babulal Gaur had said he was considering the Congress offer to contest the coming Lok Sabha polls on its ticket from Bhopal parliamentary constituency.
He had said several Congress ministers had requested him to contest the general election on their party’s ticket from Bhopal. I am considering the offer, he said.
Earlier senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of the state Digvijaya Singh had met Gaur and offered him a Congress ticket for the Lok Sabha elections. He had, however, rejected it after discussing the matter with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
Gaur’s statement has once again triggered speculations in the state’s political circles. Gaur said over the last fortnight, many ministers have visited his home and he had also met several of them. I have received many offers from Congress … will give them a thought, he had said.
