A day after reports in a section of the media saying that Ms Priyanka Vadra was keen on fighting against BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from Varanasi, Priyanka today said she has not plans to contest against Modi.

Talking to a TV channel, Priyanka said her focus at present remains on campaigning in Rae Bareli and Amethi.

Reports in a section of the media said Priyanka was keen on contesting polls against BJP Prime Ministerial candidate  Narendra Modi from the Varanasi constituency.

“My focus is on Rae Bareli and Amethi,” Priyanka told  NDTV.
Clarifying that her family would back her if she decides to contest elections, Priyanka said it was her own decision not to contest elections.
“And my decision not to contest polls is entirely personal,” she told the TV channel.

The reports appearing in the media claimed that “Priyanka Gandhi is reliably learned to have been very keen to be the Congress candidate in the holy city. But the party leadership finally decided against fielding her.”
