Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping, will hold the additional charge of Rural Development Ministry, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said today.
Mr Gadkari will also hold the charge of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation.
The Rural Development Ministry fell vacant after the death of Gopinath Munde in an accident yesterday.
“The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has directed that Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping, shall be given additional charge of the Ministries of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation,” the communique said.
