Newborn packed in bag, dumped in a drain rescued

An infant barely a day old was found packed in a polythene bag was thrown and left to die in a dried drain in Rajendra Nagar. Although the baby boy survived. Doctors hope he will live.

Prakash Chouhan while on his morning walk heard a baby’s from the ditch alongside Sukhniwas road. Two more women were there and they got shocked when they found the baby wrapped inside the polythene bag. They called Dial-100 but when no help came, they went to to Gopur square and asked police to come along with us.

Police officers arrived and called for an ambulance. “We got the information at 7.44am and rushed to the spot in a few minutes. The condition of the baby seemed unstable as it was abandoned soon after delivery.

The baby was provided first aid in the ambulance,” said Afzal Mohommad, head constable at Rajendra Nagar police station who was on FRV duty. The baby was taken to MY hospital, where doctors removed the placenta and set about saving its life.

The baby’s condition had improved by evening and he was fed some milk. The infant will be handed over to an adoption agency after complete recovery, said hospital officials.
