Delhiites today received the New Year gift from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi with the announcement of 700 litres of free water per day to every household in the national capital.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who started working from the day he was sworn in as Chief Minister on December 28, kept his words by announcing the supply of 700 litres of free water per day for households in the national capital from January 1, 2014.
The AAP leader and the Delhi Chief Minister, who was unwell, did not attend the office. However, he chaired a meeting of Delhi Jal Board officials at his residence in Ghaziabad.
The Delhi Government will review this decision after three months, sources said. DJB CEO Vijay Kumar said all households in Delhi with functional water metres will get the free water. Those whose usage of water is beyond the given limit will be charged for the entire usage, he added.
