Newly-appointed BJP national president Amit Shah today said a new era of development has started under the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

‘’The development vehicle of the country was stopped and was out of path during the ten-year rule of the UPA-I and UPA-II. Under the Narendra Modi government a new era of development has begun,’’ Mr Shah said at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here in the evening.
The BJP workers led by Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and her council of ministers accorded a grand welcome to Mr Shah, who was in Ahmedabad for the first time after becoming the BJP national president on Wednesday.
Mr Shah said under the leadership of Mr Modi, the country will attain the position of ‘’vishwa guru’’ (world’s master).

He said since the independence, it was for the first time that a non-Congress government got complete majority in Parliament.
Mr Shah said as the BJP has formed government at the Centre, responsibility of the party workers has increased.

The BJP chief urged the party workers to start a door-to-door campaign to reach out to the people and spread the government’s message and also strengthen the organisation.

Mr Shah said the party workers should become a bridge between the government and the people.

He thanked the party leadership for giving him such a huge responsibility making him the party president. ‘’I will not leave any stone unturned to fulfil expectations of the party leadership,’’ he said, adding that the BJP was the only party where an ordinary worker can also become party president.
