Utrecht, Scores of people have been injured on Monday after a shooting incident took place at 24 Oktoberplein in the Dutch city of Utrecht, according to police.
The Ultrecht police tweeted about the incident ” A shooting occurred on the #24oktoberplein in #Utrecht. The incident has been reported at 10.45 hour. Multiple people have been injured. The surrounding area has been cordoned off and we are investigating the matter.
In another tweet, “The police is investigating the shooting at the #24oktoberplein in Utrecht this morning. An possible terrorist motif is part of the investigation.
Police have not taken any suspects into custody following the shooting in 24 October Square on Monday morning, according to Joost Lanshage, spokesman for the police in central Holland.
According to CNN News, three rescue helicopters have been sent to the scene — which has since been cordoned off — to “monitor” the situation, Lanshage said.
A regional command team was established by 11:36 a.m. Officials from all emergency services are meeting at a command post a few kilometers away from the scene of the shooting.
The first trauma helicopter was dispatched to the area at 10:47 a.m., with a second following at 10:57 a.m. and a third at 11:03 a.m. Two police helicopters are keeping an eye on the scene from above, according to the flight data website.
