Madhya Pradesh’s former Higher Education and Technical Education minister Laxmikant Sharma and his ex-associate Sudhir Sharma a businessman today appeared before Special Task Force officials here in connection with a recruitment scam linked to the Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), sources said. L Sharma was questioned for more than two hours but STF officers are tightlipped about what transpired. Later, the former minister left the STF office but S Sharma remained.
“I was on a journey for some days after conclusion of the Assembly elections and learnt through newspapers about the first information report (FIR) registered against me. I am innocent and repose faith in the judicial process. I replied to the STF’s queries and am ready to cooperate when summoned again,” L Sharma told media in the premises.
The FIR was filed recently against the ex-minister, a few officials and candidates on the basis of interrogation of the MPPEB’s then officials Pankaj Trivedi and Nitin Mahindra who were arrested for scams linked to tests for entry into government services.
The STF was on the lookout for L Sharma. Today’s quizzing of the former minister reportedly took place in the presence of the MPPEB’s ex-officials.
Cases were registered against L Sharma in connection with a scam in entry of contract teachers. As per the FIR, the MPPEB’s then officials made recruitments on the basis of a list provided by L Sharma and his associates.
