MPPEB scam; former MP minister arrested

15as53Staff Reporter, Bhopal
The Special Task Force (STF) today arrested Madhya Pradesh’s former higher education minister Laxmikant Sharma in connection with the state’s professional examination board (MPPEB) scam.

Confirming the arrest, an STF official said Mr Sharma was earlier interrogated at his house for two hours and brought to the STF office in a police vehicle.

The name of former minister and his several associates had cropped up in the scam. However, Mr Sharma and his close aide and businessman Sudhir Sharma had been only called for interrogation earlier.

The former minister is expected to be presented before the court tomorrow. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is expected to return here tomorrow at the end of his week-long visit to South Africa.
