Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, MP State Water Sports Academy athletes have won a total of 4 medals with 3 gold and 1 silver.Performing brilliantly, the athletes of Indian Sailing Team won 5 medals with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal in the Sultanate-e-Oman Championship held in Oman from 5th to 8th August 2018. Out of these, 3 gold and 1 bronze medal were earned by the MP State Academy athletes.
In this championship, Satish Yadav in Laser 4.7, Ashish Vishwakarma in Optimist Boys’ and Ritika Dangi in Optimist girls’ category won a gold medal each. Likewise, academy’s Uma Chouhan won a bronze medal in the Optimist girls’ category. Furthermore, Tamil Nadu’s athlete Neel Anand won a silver medal in the Optimist boys’ category.
Appreciating their superb performance, Hon’ble Yashodhara Raje Scindia, the Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare,MP Govt., congratulated the winners. She said that the state’s athletes have made the country and the state proud by their performance. These athletes participated in the championship under the leadership of MP State Water Sports Academy Assistant Coach Anil Sharma.
Dr. S.L.Thaosen, the Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Department, also expressed his happiness over the winning performances of the academy athletes.
It is noteworthy that these athletes have been training under the guidance of the Arjun Award winning-athlete, Chief Coach Mr. G.L. Yadav.
