Modi Snubbed

The former Prime Minister Mr.Manmohan Singh snubbed the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi for arousing pity for himself on his humble background of being a tea vendor at the trains at Vadnagar railway station in Gujarat in his young age.

Mr.Singh said he would not like someone to pity on him for his simple life and deprivation. Mr.Modi in his election meeting earlier during the Lok Sabha and now for Gujarat Vidhan Sabha repeatedly referring to his humble background of being tea vendor to seek votes.

During his speeches for Lok Sabha he particularly mentioned two thing the huge accumulations of black money of Indians illegally in foreign bank equivalent to 15 lakh per Indian of 125 crore population that he would bring back if voted to power.

But he miserably failed and flopped on this issue and National President of his party Mr.Amit Shah made slight of it calling just a sentence out of cuff. The another catch sentence was of his being a tea vendor.

Now in Gujarat elections Mr.Modi is keeping mum on black money but only referring to his humble background to arouse pity and project himself that he has come upto to the level of Prime Minister from such a humble backdrop. But actually he was not a tea vendor.

His father late Mr.Damodar Das was railway contractor of tea stall at Vadnagar and he being his son also sat there to attend trains. He was son of owner and not a paid employee.

Even now thousands of such sons help their fathers in tea stall type small business. There many others who rose from humble life to skyhigh. Mr.Balkavi Bairagi of Madhya Pradesh, who became Minister in the State and Member of Parliament was child bagger in his life.

The former Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr.Virappa Moiley while he was taking food in his hut with his parents in a village, they were thrown out by a money lender and their hut demolished.

The Labour Minister Mr.Abid Ali in Nehru Ministry in his early life was a textile labourer in a cotton mill in Kanpur. Even our President Mr.Ramnath Kovind was one of 9 brothers and sisters of his poor father living a hut that was leaking during rains.

There are so many such persons who came up in life from humble background. Mr.Modi is not the only or unique person in this respect. To look far away the legendary leader of Soviet Union Mr.Nikita Khruzhchev was coal mine labourer.

Mr.Modi while projecting himself must be sober and modest as a Prime Minister should be. His utterances lack modesty. It is expected that the sane advice of Mr.Manmohan Singh will put him to reason and retrospection.
