Agencies, Patna The issue of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi being the most worthy candidate for the post of prime minister from the BJP fold remained at the centre stage, specially in the NDA camp.
After senior BJP leader and former union minister Yashwant Sinha described Mr Modi as the most popular and acceptable candidate for the PM post, Bollywood star-turned BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha openly declared the Chief Minister as a fit candidate for the post. The BJP MP from Patna Saheb had said Mr Modi is the most suitable candidate for the coveted post. His comments have once again irked the JD(U) leaders. He said such statements from the BJP, despite cautions by their national president Rajnath Singh, was against the tone and tenor of coalition politics. Mr Kumar said the coalition was functioning smoothly in Bihar and such attitude of BJP leaders would vitiate the cordial atmosphere. Earlier, while sharing his opinion with a section of the media Mr Sinha had stated that Mr Modi was the fit candidate for the post of PM. His statement had raised a storm with JD(U) leaders reacting sharply following which newly BJP president Rajnath Singh had cautioned the BJP leaders not to issue statements on the issue of the Gujarat CM being the party’s prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
