A day after Rahul Gandhi said that he could become Prime Minister if the Congress wins 2019 elections, the incumbent Narendra Modi on Wednesday mocked at “namdaar (famous)” leader and said this only reflected the arrogance of the Congress chief.
“Naam dar ka ahankar satwi asman chhu raha hae ya nahi (Is the arrogance of the famous leader not reaching sky high that he declares himself as the Prime Ministerial candidate)?,” Prime Minister Modi addressing an election rally here.
He said such display of ‘arrogance’ is also reflection of political “immaturity” of a leader and cautioned people that they should not rest faith in such an immature leader.
In fact, Prime Minister made a repeated reference to the phrase “born with golden spoon” for Rahul Gandhi and went onto describe his self-declaration as a PM-candidate like a villager who takes his ‘bucket’ before the water tanker and places it on first row breaking all the norms of a queue.
“Such self-declaration (as PM candidate) exposes the facade of internal democracy in Congress,” Mr Modi said adding this also shows that Rahul Gandhi does not have faith in the leaders of various other opposition parties who are trying to cobble together an alliance to fight the BJP.
On Tuesday, Mr Gandhi has said in Bengaluru that the BJP is unlikely to form the next government at the Centre and indicated that in the event of Congress coming back to power he could be the next Prime Minister.
Speaking at ‘Samruddha Bharat’ an independent platform to promote liberal and secular values, he said if opposition led by Congress join hands in the next Lok Sabha election in 2019 BJP will be wiped out. “……it is next to impossible that Mr Narendra Modi can become Prime Minister again. It is already showing on his face,’’ Mr Gandhi has said.
