Modi arrives on 2-day visit, to hold talks with Lee

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here today on a two-day visit to the country, during which the two sides would conclude a strategic partnership .

The visit is also likely to result in further boosting defence partnership between India and Singapore. An enhanced defence cooperation agreement is likely to be signed along with some other MoUs relating to cyber security, culture and training in urban management.

Mr Modi will shortly deliver Singapore Lecture, at around 2000 hrs local time. The Prime Minister of Singapore is also expected to attend the event. The audience largely consists of policy makers, think-tanks, academics and the diplomatic community.

His first programme tomorrow morning would be a breakfast meeting with Singapore businessmen. After that, he will meet with his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong, and the President, which will be followed by the signing of MoUs.

The Prime Minister will lay a wreathe at the INA marker in Singapore. He will visit the Institute of Technical Education College, which is involved in skills development, and also address the India-Singapore Economic Convention on November 24.

There would be a brief meeting, interaction with selected Singapore CEOs, and an interaction with Indian community, after which the Prime Minister will depart for home.
