Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Due to constant rainfall since Wednesday night, many areas of the city are flooded with water. Disturbed by complaints of water loggings, Mayor Alok Sharma sat on the protest while holding a chair in the midst of a water-filled road near Bhopal Talkies on Thursday.
Sitting in the water of the drain, Alok got angry at the authorities by placing a phone from there itself. After this he had also spoke to PWD Minister Rampal Singh. After getting the assurance of action from the minister, he got up from the protest.
– The mayor went out to check the situation of the city after the rain on Wednesday. There was a heavy water logging on the road near Saifia College. After getting the complaints and facing anger of the people, he sat on the protest by holding a chair on the water.
– Alok Sharma complained that a there is a bridge of PWD on the drain passing through Saifia College. Due to this bridge, the drainage water is getting disrupted and it is flowing overly on the roads. PWD officials are not taking any steps towards this gutter. He accused the PWD officials of adopting an irresponsible attitude.
– Sharma also complained that in many areas of Bhopal the situation of water logging is always created. Since there are many agencies for developmental work such a situation arises only due to lack of coordination between them. But people blame the corporation only every time. The Mayor said that till the PWD officials will not come to the Safiya College locality to deal with the situation, he will not get up.
Municipal Corporation’s promise failed
Before rainy season, the municipal corporation was claiming that no water logging will be faced by the public in the city. But only in a rain of a week, there were about 100 slums of the city that are logged with the water.
It is notable that due to the constant rain for whole Wednesday night, the rain water had been flooded into the houses and on the roads, especially at the lower areas of the city. Due to this, there is a lot of anger among the people against the responsible of government departments.
