Mass shooting leaves 17 dead in Florida school

Parkland,

At least 17 people were killed, when a gunman opened fire in a Florida high school here, police said.

The gunman, identified as 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, a former student of the school, has been taken into custody. He was expelled for unspecified disciplinary reasons, Mail online quoted Broward Sheriff Scott Israel as saying.

So far, what they’ve found is “very, very disturbing,” he said.”It’s a horrific, horrific day,” Israel said. “Just pray for this city. Pray for this school, the parents, the folks that lost their lives.””It’s a horrific situation,” Broward Country Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie told reporters separately.

The gunman surrendered to police without a struggle, Israel said.”It’s catastrophic,” he said. “There really are no words.”Twelve of the dead were killed inside the school building, two others just outside, one more on the street and two other victims died of their injuries at a hospital, Israel said. He said the victims comprised of a mixture of students and adults.
