Maryam Nawaz rubbishes rumours of Nawaz’s exile

Agencies, Islamabad

Ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, has rubbished the rumours of her father’s self-exile and said the news was just a self-created lie.
In her tweet, Maryam stated exile will be the fate of military dictators and non-democratic characters, not of representatives elected by people.

Earlier, a report from Lahore said Nawaz Sharif might actually go into exile and avoid all his corruption cases against him.The report said that Nawaz Sharif was about to visit Saudi Arabia and the kingdom was likely to intervene in the stand-off between the head of ruling PML-N and establishment.

The article quoted sources and claimed that the ex-PM only required permission to leave the country and quit politics in order to survive the corruption references against him in the National Accountability Bureau.

“The Saudis are indicating that they await a final sign-off from the Pakistani military,” the report reads. The PML-N president was expected to depart for Saudi Arabia on Sunday on a high-profile visit.

Nawaz Sharif is expected to meet Turkish premier and Saudi Arabia’s top brass.
Sources are terming Sharif’s visit of high significance against the backdrop of ongoing regional happenings.

While Nawaz Sharif is about to leave for Saudi Arabia, his brother and Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif is already there on a visit. He went on a Saudi plane sent to fetch him from Pakistan.

Earlier on Thursday, National Security Adviser retired Lt Gen Nasser Khan Janjua met former premier Nawaz Sharif at Mr Sharif’s Jati Umra residence in Raiwind, which reportedly lasted five hours, discussed matters of national security, relations with neighbouring countries and terrorism.
