President Ram Kovind Nath, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday led the nation in paying tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 70th death anniversary.
The President, the Vice President and the Prime Minister, along with Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the three Chiefs of the Armed Forces, paid floral tributes to Father of the Nation at Rajghat.
Tunes of ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ played in the background.Earlier in the day, the PM, in a post on Twitter, said, ”remembering Bapu on his Punya Tithi.”
On Mahatma Gandhi ‘s death anniversary, which is also observed as Martyrs day, the PM also paid tributes to all those martyrs who have sacrificed themselves in service of our nation.
”We bow to all those martyrs who have sacrificed themselves in service of our nation.We will always remember their courage as well as dedication towards the nation,” the PM said.
