When the occasion is to celebrate a grand film festival in Kolkata, who other than Bollywood legend Amitabah Bachchan could be better. After all, the Big B also happen to be Bengals most popular and favorite jamai babu.
So, when the city of joy decided to invite him as the guest of honour at the film festival, West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally took the onus of extending an invitation by making a phone call and asking the actor to grace the prestigious event of her state.
Talking to daily, a source said, “Mamata didi wanted only Amitabh Bachchan to open the festival. Both of them go a long way back when both of them were MPs and have shared a rapport ever since.”
Meanwhile Mr Bachchan has also confirmed his presence at the event by saying, “Mamata (Banerjee) phoned me and invited me for the Kolkata film festival. I will be going on November 11.”
Interestingly, Kolkata has always been special to Big B as the city regards the star as its son-in-law. It is also the place where he landed his first job before making it in the film industry.
