Kolkata,West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today extended her solidarity with TDP chief and her Andhra Pradesh counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu, who was on a day-long fast in New Delhi over the demand of special status for AP.
The TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu has launched a protest against the BJP-led Central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the Union government was not following ‘raj dharma’ by denying the state special status.
“Our party chairperson Mamata Banerjee has expressed her support towards TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s hunger strike,” said a TMC leader.
He said, ‘Our TMC supremo also advised Rajya Sabha leader Derek O’Brien to visit Mr Naidu and express solidarity.”
He said all the Opposition stands united in the struggle against the “anti -people Modi government,” he added.
On his part Mr Naidu on Tuesday last visited Ms Banerjee’s dharna place in the city and said the TMC chief was the main source of the Opposition’s united struggle against the Modi government.
Ms Banerjee is expected to fly to New Delhi on February 13 and spearhead an Opposition meeting there.
