- More than two dozen shops gutted
Staff Reporter, Bhopal A major fire broke out in the Harekrishna Complex at 10 No. Market of Arera Colony on Tuesday night at around 9 pm. More than two dozen shops were gutted in the fire with a loss estimated to be in crores.
According to an eye witness, the fire started in a closed shop at around 9 pm. and within minutes the fire engulfed the entire building which also has a residential area at the top. A child trapped in a residential flat of the building was rescued by a passer by. More than a dozen fire tenders were pressed into service to control the fire which could not be controlled till the filing of this report.
Superintendent of Police (South) Anshuman Singh stated that both fire department and police are trying to control the fire with paramedics on standby to back the rescue operations. However he refused to quote any casualty as the rescue operations were still underway at the moment and stalled the questions further saying the police will issue an official statement once the fire is doused.
