Madhya Pradesh Government’s Education Loan Scheme lauded

A meeting of State-level Bankers’ Committee was held at regional office of Central Bank of India here today. Central Bank of India Chairman and Managing Director Shri M.V. Tanksale, Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri Madan Mohan Upadhyay and senior officers of the State Government and banks were present on the occasion.

It was informed at the meeting that three regional rural banks in Madhya Pradesh including Satpura-Narmada regional rural bank, Vidisha regional rural bank and Mahakaushal regional rural bank will be merged during the current fiscal. At the meeting, instructions were issued to achieve targets keeping in view works done by banks during the first quarter of the current fiscal and major sectors. Additional Chief Secretary Shri M.M. Upadhyay urged the banks to cooperate in the implementation of the scheme as per provisions.
Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri Upadhyay informed that the state has achieved 18 percent agriculture growth rate. He also informed about the State Government’s resolve to maintain this rate.
Shri Upadhyay informed that Madhya Pradesh has been selected for prestigious Agriculture Leadership Award of Agriculture Today magazine.
Principal Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath informed that Higher Education Loan Scheme has been launched in the state from July 1, 2012.
Principal Secretary Village Industries Smt. Kanchan Jain, Commissioner Institutional Finance Shri Ashok Shah, Khadi and Gramodyog Board Managing Director Smt. Shikha Dube, Scheduled Castes Finance Development Corporation Managing Director Smt. Veena Ghanekar and Chief Executive Officer of Madhya Pradesh Rural Roads Authority Smt. Alka Upadhyay also expressed their views at the meeting.
