On Sunday night, a liquor mafia attacked a police post at Dhana in Sagar district. Two police jawans got injured in this attack. Two persons were arrested for pelting stones and breaking the window panes, furniture and glasses of police vehicles parked outside the building.
Just before this attack, some unidentified people looted a nearby liquor shop. They assaulted the shop employees and threatened to kill them, an employee of the shop Vicky told police.
Police attributed the cause of the attack to “extensive drive against the illicit liquor trade in Sagar.”At around 10.30 pm on Sunday night, when stones were pelted on it there was hardly any staff at the police post. Soon, two persons were overpowered, who were later identified as Baiju Pandey and Sonu. They were accompanied by four more who had barged into the chowky hurling abuses on the cops, police said.
Superintendent of police Satyandra Shukla said, “18 cases of illicit liquor trade were registered by the Dhana chowky last year. He said that those who were involved in the attack on chowky were booked under sections 353, 332 and 186 of the IPC. They were also booked under section 427 of IPC- damaging the property. Police are now looking for these attackers.
