Patna, At least six people were charred to death and another injured when lightning struck them in the districts of Darbhanga, Saharsa, Samastipur and Khagaria today.
According to a report from Darbhanga, four people lost their lives after lightning fell on them at Bairobthanaha village under Kusheshwarsthan police station area in the district.
District magistrate Chandrashekhar Prasad Singh said here that four people- Mahadev Yadav (35) and Hareram Yadav were killed when lightning struck them. He said that they were working in an agriculture field when the mishap took place.
In another incident at the village, two people-Janardan Ram (36) and Madan Yadav (55) were killed on the spot when lightning struck them. An ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh would be paid to family members of each deceased.
According to a report from Saharsa, four people including three children were killed when lightning struck them at different places in the district.
Simri Bakhiyarpur`s sub divisional officer said that two children-Manish (10) and Avinash (08) were killed when lightning fell on them at Kadua village.
In another incident, a 10 year girl Renu Kumari (10) was charred to death when lightning struck her at Turki village. Mr Kumar said that in another incident, one Ram Sagar (17) was killed when lightning struck him at Gospur village under Salkhua police station area.
He said that all bodies had been sent to Saharsa Sadar Hospital for autopsy. He said that an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh would be paid to family members of each deceased.
