New Delhi, India skipper Virat Kohli’s stint with Surrey has been put off due to neck injury, and will begin training and subsequently undergo a fitness test at the NCA in Bengaluru from June 15.
“Virat Kohli suffered a neck injury while fielding during Match 51 of the VIVO IPL between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 17th May 2018 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru,” the BCCI release stated.
“Kohli, who was scheduled to play for Surrey CCC in the month of June, has been ruled out from participating. This decision was taken following assessments by the BCCI Medical team, subsequent scans, and a specialist visit,” the release further said.
The Team India captain will now undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team.The BCCI Medical Team is confident that Kohli will regain full fitness ahead of India’s upcoming tours to Ireland and England which begins from June 27 and July 3.
India play two T20 matches against Ireland on June 27 and 29 at Dublin while England tour will be quite hectic for India which takes place from July 3.The tourists will play three T20 against England on July 3 at Manchester, July 6, Cardiff and July 8, Bristol.
India also play 3 ODIs beginning from July 12 at Nottingham, July 14, Lord’s cricket ground, London and on July 17 at Leeds.
India also will play 5 Tests with 1st Test from Aug 1-5, Edgbaston, Birmingham. 2nd Aug 9-13, Lord’s Cricket Ground, London. 3rd Test, Aug 18-22, Trent Bridge, Nottingham. 4th Test Aug 30-Sep 3, The Ageas Bowl, Southampton and 5th Test Sep 7-11, The Oval, London.
