Kidambi Srikanth rises to career best at 2nd

Indian star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth achieved a career best ranking of no 2 in the latest BWF rankings released on Thursday, while in women’s singles PV Sindhu stands firm at no 2. Kidambi climbed two places to secure second spot.

After winning for Superseries title this year the ace Indian shuttler has 73403 points, still 4527 point behind Viktor Axelsen of Denmark who stands at top of the chart.

Kidambi who is currently at his best after winning four Superseries this year with Indonesia, Australia, Denmark and recently France Open Superseries will be hoping to continue the momentum against Viktor in the upcoming events at China and Hong Kong.

In women’s singles, P V Sindhu, who also reached the semifinals at France, stands firm at World No 2, while former World No 1 Saina Nehwal stands static at 11th spot.

H S Prannoy crowned title of US Open Grand Prix Gold also climbed a place to reach at no 11. B Sai Praneeth champion of Singapore Open slipped to 16th spot while Sameer who missed Denmark and France Open due to fitness remains firm at 18th.

Young men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who entered the quarterfinals last week after beating the World No 6 combo of Mads Pieler Kolding and Mads-Conrad-Petersen, improved four spots to be at the 28th place.

Women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy slipped two places to be at the 25th spot, while mixed doubles combo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Sikki remain at the 16th spot.
