Sonia GandhiAgencies, New Delhi/Ramgarh/Bellary
Fighting attacks on the UPA  regime, Congress president Sonia Gandhi sought to tear apart BJP  onslaught and cautioned the electorate to be vigilant against  those raising bogeys to usurp power at the Centre.
Debutant Aam Aadmi Party, which has fielded nominees across the country, came under physical attack when its chief Arvind Kejriwal was punched in full public view during his road show in Dakshinpuri area of the Capital.

A Cobrapost sting operation asserted that Babri mosque demolition was a pre-planned conspiracy even as Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Syed Abdullah Bukhari, threw his weight behind Congress charge sheeted by BJP for ills ailing nation.

BJP leaders smelt a rat in the disclosures and asserted it was a design to surcharge the communal atmosphere.

They saw Congress hand behind the operation and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad described it as a ‘Congress post’ operation.
BJP filed a charge sheet against UPA and held Sonia and Rahul Gandhi accountable for ills ailing the nation. Ravi Shankar Prasad  said both Sonia and Rahul were equally responsible for all lapses along with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Titans and debutants filed papers.

Sushma Swaraj filed her nomination from MP’s Vidisha and Rajnath Singh, BJP president, switched from Ghaziabad to Lucknow.
SP chieftain Mulayam Singh Yadav, Milind Deora of the  Congress, BJP’s Kirit Somaya and Amar Singh, SP renegade, were among those filed papers today.

Mr Modi, during the day, sharpened his attack on Congress and its top rung leaders on a slew of charges  including corruption and poor governance as Sonia assailed the opposition for raising bogeys to usurp power at the Centre.

Mr Kejriwal was punched in the neck for a second time in recent times while campaigning. The attack took place in Dakshinpuri when the AAP leader was holding a road show. The attacker was thrashed by Kejriwal supporters before he was handed over to police. Last week, the AAP chief was attacked in Charki Dadri in Haryana.

The Shahi Imam, who had a meeting with Sonia recently, held a news conference and announced his support to Congress and Trinamool Congress on the ground that the country was passing through a very crucial phase and ‘secular’ votes should npt be divided. The Shahi Imam requested the minority community not to vote in favour of SP and BSP.
The sting operation, which has allegedly found that the Babri Masjid demolition was meticulously pre-planned and L K Advani and other top BJP leaders were aware of the conspiracy, kicked up a new row, driving BJP to the doorstep of the Election Commission.

The sting operation has also alleged that the then Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh and ex-prime minister PV Narasimha Rao were also allegedly aware of the plan.

BJP leaders strongly flayed the operation and said it was a conspiracy to affect elections. BJP’s Mukthar Abass Naqvi said it was an attempt to poison the electoral scenario.

In an oblique attack on BJP and Modi, Sonia questioned at a rally on the Sido-Kanhu grounds Ramgarh,’Will the chair of the Prime Minister be determined on the basis of who can speak the maximum lies?
