Karnataka, AP, Punjab women teams shines in opening Kho Kho matches

Kolhapur:

Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Pondechery women’s teams shone in the opening Kho-Kho matches while Tamilnadu, Delhi, Madhya Bharat, Orisa men’s teams have recorded victory in their opening day-night matches in 51st national Kho-Kho competition, which got underway last evening at Ichalkaranji, in power loom town of this district.

In women group Punjab overcame on Zarkhand by 9-7 points and Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Pondechery won their matches defeating Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir and Sikkim respectively. In men’s group Tamilnadu, Delhi, Madhya Bharat and Orisa defeated their opponents Nagaland, Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur and Tripura respectively.

Earlier, the state revenue minister Chandrakant Patil, who is also district guardian minister inaugurated the competition in the presence of former MP Kallappa Avade, National Kho-Kho Association secretary Mahendasing Tyagi, district KhoKho association president Rajan Urunkar and Ichalkaranji municipal president Ms Alka Swami.

Five-days long 51th national senior women and men Kho Kho competition organized by rotary Club, Kolhapur district Kho-Kho Association and Mahesh club, gor underway in which total one thousands Kho Kho players of 64 men and women teams from different states of the country, participated in this national competition.
