Itihaas Anveshan 2012: Sepia to colour

More than 1200 young minds from over 200 schools from  seven cities across India and seven SAARC countries participated in Anveshan 2012- Young Writers’ Forum and showcase their unique perceptions of the various changes constantly taking place around them. Today, Mr. Vikram Doraiswamy, Joint Director, SAARC felicitated the national and regional winners in the categories of Cheshta, Utsaah, Jumbish and Udgaar, at a ceremony.

While Lahore College of Art & Science – Lahore, Pakistan won in the international category, Cambridge School, Indirapuram, New Delhi; Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi; and Mont Fort School, Ashok Vihar, New Delhi and Sri Venketeswara International School, Dwarka, New Delhi; Tagore Public School – Jaipur; Indus World School – Mandi; St. Joseph’s convent – Bhopal; PSBB Learning Academy – Bangalore won the national categories.

Ms. Smita Vats, Founder Director – ITIHAAS  said, “At ITIHAAS, we are constantly giving children an opportunity to look at their heritage in their own unique ways, pick the best from the past and weave it into the future that they are steadily building for themselves. Anveshan is witnessing enthusiastic participation from SAARC nations like Bhutan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. We congratulate the bright young winners in each category.”

When ITIHAAS announced the categories for Anveshan 2012, they met with an overwhelming response of over 500 entries from Bhopal, Gwalior, Jaipur, Mandi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Sannar and Chandigarh within a span of four months.
These were analysed by a panel of judges that included renowned theatre personality Mr. Faizal Alkazi; Former Director of the National Book Trust Shrimati Varsha Das; Writer and Story Teller Ms. Anupa Lal, and Head of the Junior School, The Srijan School Ms. Anjali Arora.

Anveshan 2012 provides a platform to students to talk about the changing course of a tradition, a profession or a way of life, incorporating histories specific to an individual, community or region through their projects.
