Israeli PM wraps up 6-day visit to India

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday ended his six-day visit to India and left Mumbai in the morning. This was first visit by any Israeli Prime Minister in 15 years since 2003.

During the visit, both sides pledged to take the bilateral relations to newer heights and also sought to open up new vistas.During his stay, Mr Netanyahu had described that India-Israel ties is like a match made in heaven.He also described PM Modi as a “revolutionary leader” and addressed him once as “mere pyare dost (my dear friend)”.

On Thursday, in an address in Mumbai, the visiting PM has said that India and Israel are the oldest cultures on earth and both are democracies.

In Mumbai, he also attended the much-anticipated “Shalom Bollywood” event that attracted a galaxy of leading actors, directors and producers.

He also laid a wreath in Mumbai on Thursday for the 26/11 terror attack victims and visited the Nariman House where he met 11-year-old Moshe Holtzberg, whose parents Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and Rivka were killed during the attacks.

Mr Modi also has invited “Israeli companies to take advantage of the liberalised FDI regime” to open up manufacturing units in India. On his part, Mr Netanyahu did not hide his excitement about the film production agreement.Both the leaders also staged a roadshow in Ahmedabad.
