Mumbai,The Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule for the first two weeks of the upcoming season was announced on Tuesday with defending champions CSK, led by MS Dhoni, taking on Virat Kohli-led RCB in the opener on March 23.The dates could be revised following the schedule of the Lok Sabha polls.
According to the IPL’s official website, once the election dates are announced, BCCI will also prepare the schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates.
A total of 17 matches will be played during the two-week period across the eight home venues of the respective franchises.
All the teams will play a minimum of four matches with DC and RCB playing five matches. Every team will play a minimum of 2 home and 2 away matches with DC playing 3 home matches, while RCB will play 3 away matches.
Ending on April 5, the IPL 2019 has to contend with the World Cup which will be held from May 30 to July 14 in England.
